What this app does
TF Add Sample is a Shopify app. It adds a Sample variant to products and stores the sample price and sample size in product metafields in the merchant's Shopify store.
Information from Shopify
- Shop domain, so the app can tell stores apart.
- An offline access token and session details for the installed shop, so the app can call the Admin API.
- Product fields needed for setup: title, handle, type, tags, options, variants, and the sample metafields. The product catalog is not copied into the app database.
- The app's requested scopes include
read_orders. This version does not read orders and does not store customer or order records.
Information from the merchant
The merchant saves sample defaults in the app: sample size text and the price formula. Those settings are stored against the shop domain. The app does not ask customers for an account, and it does not place cookies or tracking pixels on the storefront.
How the information is used
The information is used to run the app: authenticate the shop, create and update Sample variants, show Samples and Defaults, and bill the $10 USD subscription through Shopify. Card details are handled by Shopify Billing, not by this app.
How long it is kept
Shop settings and sessions are kept while the app is installed. When a merchant uninstalls, the session is removed. Shopify later sends a shop redaction webhook, and the app deletes the remaining settings and webhook records for that shop. Customer redaction requests have no customer records to delete in this app.
